The short version
We use your information to score the assessment, save and deliver your result, provide anything you buy, run team experiences, answer support requests, and protect the service. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Ourotype does not send your assessment answers to an AI model at runtime or use them to train one.
What we collect
Assessment information
The test processes your 30 answers to calculate four preference scores and a four-letter result. We store your email address, result type, those four scores, and the date of the result. We do not retain the 30 individual answer selections after scoring.
Email information
We collect the email address you provide after the test, at Checkout, or in a support request. We use it to save and send your free result, deliver and recover paid access, provide team access, send service messages, and reply to you.
An individual report purchase also includes a six-week email series with exercises related to that report. You can stop the remaining messages at any time by emailing hello@ourotype.com. Taking the free test alone does not enroll you in that series.
Purchases
We store the purchase email, product and type or team tier, payment and delivery status, a Stripe Checkout session reference, timestamps, and the access token needed to recover a purchased report or team dashboard. Stripe processes the payment itself. Ourotype does not receive or store your full card number.
Team information
For team purchases, we store the team name, tier, seat limit, facilitator email, team access and join tokens, and purchase status. For each participant, we store their name, email, result type, four preference scores, and join date. As with the individual test, the 30 individual answers are used to score the result but are not retained. A team facilitator can see participant names, types, scores, and the resulting team map.
Technical information
Our servers necessarily process request information such as IP address, browser details, requested page, and timing to deliver and secure the site. We use an essential, secure browser cookie to remember access after a paid report magic link is opened. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we use information
- Score, save, display, and email assessment results.
- Process purchases and deliver reports, team dashboards, and recovery links.
- Operate team joins, team maps, and facilitator materials.
- Send service messages and the paid-report exercise series described above.
- Handle support, privacy, billing, refund, fraud, and security requests.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of Ourotype.
- Meet accounting, tax, legal, and regulatory obligations.
Who helps us provide Ourotype
We share only the information needed for these service providers to do their jobs:
- Stripe processes Checkout payments and refunds. Stripe handles payment details under its privacy policy.
- Resend delivers result, purchase, team, recovery, and report exercise emails under its privacy policy.
- Hosting and backup providers store the application, encrypted connections, logs, and database backups needed to run and recover the service.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect someone’s safety or rights, or as part of a business transfer where the recipient must continue to protect it.
Retention
We keep assessment and email records only as long as reasonably needed to save and recover results, operate team experiences, provide purchased access, support customers, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Purchase and refund records may be kept longer for accounting, tax, fraud, and dispute requirements. Technical logs are kept for a shorter operational period. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups until those backups expire through their normal rotation.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can ask to access, correct, or delete your assessment, email, or team-member information, or stop the remaining report exercise emails. Email hello@ourotype.com with the subject “Privacy request.” We may ask you to verify control of the relevant email address before acting.
A participant may request deletion of their own team record. A facilitator may request deletion of the whole team. We may retain the minimum transaction information the law requires, and deleting access records may prevent us from recovering a purchased report or team dashboard later.
Security, age, and changes
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections and limited-access purchase links. No internet service can promise absolute security, so keep magic links and team join links private.
Ourotype is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the new version here and change the date above. Material changes will be communicated when required.
